Back out watching wildlife.

It’s been a couple of weeks since I last wrote a blog post and, honestly, I’m not really sure why. Life gets busy I suppose, and maybe I just lost my way with it for a little while. Either way, I’m back at it.

Recently I’ve spent a lot of time watching rabbits and hares while still trying to catch up with the foxes.
I know where the foxes are, but getting the timings right has been another story altogether. Wildlife photography can be like that sometimes — plenty of patience and a lot of missed opportunities before things finally come together.
The hares and rabbits have been brilliant though. It’s really nice seeing the hares again this year because last year definitely wasn’t a great one for them around here. Sadly, this year could end up going the same way because hare coursing is still a huge problem in the area.

To be honest, it really sickens me.
I genuinely cannot understand why anyone would want to watch their dogs chase down and kill such beautiful animals. It makes absolutely no sense to me at all. These creatures belong out in the fields where they should be left in peace.
On a more positive note, I’ve also been out setting up cameras for the badgers, so hopefully I’ll manage to get some decent footage of them soon. There’s always something exciting about checking the cameras and seeing what’s been wandering past during the night.
I’ve also been spending time watching another beautiful visitor recently. I’ve been lucky enough to see them a few times now and managed to get a few photographs I’m really pleased with. For now though, those photos will stay private until they move on from the area. Protecting wildlife always comes before posting photos online.
At the moment I’m also keeping a close eye on the swans and their cygnets. There are 8 beautiful little chicks and, hopefully, they’ll all stay safe and continue doing well. I’m hoping to document their progress as they grow over the coming weeks because it’s been amazing to watch so far.

The herons and crows are definitely keeping mum and dad busy though, constantly looking for an opportunity to grab one of the chicks. Thankfully the swans are doing an incredible job protecting them and staying alert.
Nature can be beautiful, peaceful and brutal all at the same time.
If you’d like to follow my photography journey and keep up with the cygnets and the other wildlife I’m photographing, please do like and follow my page. It would be great to have you along for the journey.
