The Journey So Far: Building My Photography Dream
Share
When I first picked up a camera, I never imagined where it might take me. At the start, my vision was simple: to capture moments that felt special and share them with others. Like so many beginners, I began by setting up social media accounts and creating a small website with WordPress to showcase my photos.
In October 2024, I decided to take things further by opening my Etsy shop. This was my first step into the world of selling photography. It was both exciting and nerve-wracking—learning about pricing, presentation, and what people were looking for. Every order felt like a milestone and gave me the confidence to keep moving forward.
Photography isn’t just about selling prints—it’s about community. That’s why I started the Frickley Country Park Photography Group. It’s been amazing to see people share their own photos, stories, and love for the park. The group has quickly grown into a place where creativity and local pride come together.
One of the biggest highlights so far has been creating my very first Frickley Country Park Calendar. After testing prototypes and refining the design, I ordered a full batch and I am looking forward to sharing them locally. Knowing I’ve created something that people can hang in their homes is an incredible feeling—it’s proof that this little dream of mine is becoming something real.
Building My Brand & Website
As I grow more confident, I realise the importance of building a recognisable brand. I designed a logo, introduced consistent branding across all platforms, and eventually purchased my own domain: picturethisprint.co.uk. My website is now live, and I’m gradually adding products so that anyone, anywhere, can browse my work directly.
What’s Next?
This is just the beginning. My photography journey has already taken me further than I imagined, but I’m still learning, still experimenting, and still pushing forward. I want to grow my website, expand my print collections, and continue building the Frickley photography community.
