“Waiting for the Moment”

“Waiting for the Moment”

This week has been a good one for the little birds. I’ve been out hoping for some action shots, but so far they’re not quite playing along. Still, everywhere you look there’s plenty going on. It’s that time of year when everything is busy searching for mates and claiming new territory, so even when the big moments don’t happen, there’s always something to watch.

Today (Sunday) I’m having a rare day off — just a quiet one to recharge.

Tomorrow I’m heading up north with one thing firmly in mind… red squirrels. They’re firmly in the plan, so fingers crossed there are a few around. I haven’t even looked at the weather yet, so I’m hoping it decides to behave for once.

You might remember me mentioning the trail camera. The new one has now been out exactly two weeks, so I’m hoping there will be something interesting on it when I check it. The other camera I looked at recently had 64 videos on it — one fox caught passing through at night, and the rest mostly pheasants and squirrels. With the strong winds we’ve had lately, I suspect the deer have been staying deep in the woods where it’s a bit more sheltered.

The trail camera saga continues though… after all the trouble getting the replacement sent out, you won’t believe another one turned up yesterday. The seller was very quick to message asking for it back — much quicker than they were at posting the first one! I’m still deciding whether to send it back or keep it now it’s here… although my wife definitely thinks it should go back. 😂

As for wildlife goals, I’m still chasing those elusive boxing hares. I think I’ve been trying for about three years now. I could probably photograph them up north without too much trouble, but I’ve always wanted to capture that moment locally. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this March might finally be the year.

Anyway, that’s me signing off for this week.

Thank you for taking the time to read my little blog — I hope it hasn’t been too boring. I’ll be back again next Sunday.

Much love to everyone, and enjoy the rest of your weekend. 🪶
